Block Island Woven Landscapes

An ongoing series of woven paintings capturing views of Block Island, Rhode Island, from the air at different times of the year. Watercolor paintings are cut and woven together, reflecting views of landscapes from plane windows. The artwork captures a broad perspective of the land, highlighting the intertwining relationship between coastal waters and development.

The weaving of the paintings calls attention to the distance generated between the viewer and the image by a camera, and the complexity of the light, colors, and shapes seen by our eyes in a landscape.
