View from the Train: Bridgeport to Westerly

60 watercolor paintings based on photographs taken out of a train window traveling through coastal Connecticut. Each painting is 4 5/8" x 3 3/4" and the entire series was painted in 2023.

The paintings highlight views of marshes and rivers intertwined with transit corridors and coastal development. The images reflect diverse patterns of land usage driven by farming, transport, industry, housing needs, and leisure. Stories can be read in the paintings about the fragile beauty of the salt water marshes, and about variations in wealth and class between Connecticut cities and towns.
